Haunted Cromer

For the Factual Programming unit the BBC Voices team asked us to base our documentary  around a part of Norfolk. As a class we choice Cromer as we thought the area was the most rich in history and we would all be able to make varied documentarys. Our group choose to research into the ghost stories surrounding the Cromer and asked Anna Crane if we could interview her as she held ghost walks at Cromer Museum.

For this project I was the main editor and Director of Photography as our group consisted of 2 people.

As part of the commission the BBC Voices team asked us to create a radio interview that about another part of Cromer. We choose to interview Anna Crane about the town in Cromer that was embedded in the ocean in the 13th century and the ghost stories around it.

The Benefits of Cycling

In unit 3 we were asked to create a News segment for a community television outlet. During this exam it was a chance to show off editing skills, so I spent a lot of time learning new skills like how to mask, make my own graphics in illustrator and to create manual transitions.  We also had a chance to display our range of camera work, so I included a varied depth of field, movement and framing.

During this project we had to work independently, therefore I did all of the editing and camera work (with help from peers to carry equipment and hold reflectors).

Fever

For the 2018 Paston Film night our class was challenged to create a short film in 48 hours. We choose to base the topic of the video to be knife crime as it is a huge issue. We used the Poem "The Pain Reliever" by Carrie Olivia Adams as the base for the video and surrounded all of or ideas around it.

In this project we split up roles on the 2 days of production. On the first day of production I was director and shot the chess, running and alley scenes. For the second day I was co-editor and edited all the other scenes in the short film.

Shape of Voice

This short film is based on the manga Silent Voice and was made for our short film unit. We choose this story as it followed a deaf girl and her struggles with growing up with bullies. As this was the first short film I had made I was really set on creating a story around a character that is a minority that is underrepresented in the media. We also really liked the style and colour scale of the manga and wanted to bring it to screen.

During this project I was the main editor, so during production I took the role as sound engineer and grip.

John Lewis Christmas Advert

This is the Advert my group made for the Advertising unit. We choose to make a John Lewis Christmas ad as we wanted to challenge ourselves, and liked the strong narrative base of these adverts. As this is one of my earlier pieces of work the camera quality isn't the best, however I am very proud of the concept for this advert and that we were able to work so well with an animal.

For this project I was co-director of photography and the main editor.

Forrest Gump

During the introduction week of the course we were asked to re-create an iconic scene. As a group we choose the running scene from Forrest Gump as we thought it was a scene a lot of people would know. This is was one of my first experiences using a camera but I am really proud of the prop design.

During this project I was the sound engineer, co-director of photography and co-editor.

The Sound

As practice for unit 3, we had a mock task for the exam. For this project we were given a purpose, target audience and a list of  camera and editing techniques we needed to include in the video.  The task was to create a music video using a song that we believed were important throughout music history. I choose a song by the band 1975 as I believe they have enabled rock to stay alive by creating a hybrid genre with pop music.

As this unit exam was independent I edited and filmed the whole video with the help of my fiends who were the actors in the video.

Scripts

These are examples of scripts that I have written and edited for college projects.

Shape of Voice Script:

This is the script for the short film Shape of Voice. I was the main writer on this unit and used the notes from the rest of my group to develop the story.

Death was the only option Script:

During the radio fiction unit 11 task we were asked to create a 5 minute radio drama. As a group we decided we wanted to find a script online and change it to be a radio script. After doing research we found this script and start to alter it so it was 5 minutes long and would help us envision the drama drama.
